Manchester United have completed the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton for a reported fee of £24million.
According to United’s official press photographer Craig Norwood, Schneiderlin arrived at Carrington ahead of his medical just 5 minutes after Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Times have confirmed that Schneiderlin will cost United around 24million and has been signed on an initial 4-year deal. Times have also claimed that the Frenchman will be deemed as a Home-Grown player as he had joined Southampton at the age of 18.
Schneiderlin becomes United’s fourth summer signing following the capture of Memphis Depay (£21m), Matteo Darmian (£12m), Bastian Schweinsteiger (£14m) and now the former Southampton star for £24m.
Schneiderlin’s transfer comes as a major surprise after the major English media had reported a £25million bid being rejected by Southampton and there were suggestions of a new £30million bid to be proposed by the Old Trafford club.
A new twist came in Schneiderlin’s chase came when United went ahead and signed Bastian Schweinsteiger for a reported fee of £14million. There were suggestions that Schneiderlin will not be signed as they have already signed one of the world’s best holding midfield players.
However, all those suggestions have been put to rest after Old Trafford club signed both Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin within a span of 48 hours. The club has also confirmed that the two Midfield maestros will be revealed later today and will be part of United’s pre-season tour to United states.
