The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2011 for £21.3 million, and has made 143 appearances for the west London club. If Luiz seals a move to Paris, he will become the world’s most expensive defender.Chelsea have replacements ready for David Luiz, with Kurt Zouma set to arrive from Saint-Etienne this summer and Tomas Kalas expected to feature in the first team next season.
David Luiz will be hoping to replicate his national team partnership with Thiago Silva for Paris St-Germain. Recently, Thiago Silva admitted the arrival of Chelsea duo David Luiz and Oscar will make the Paris club stronger.
Thiago Silva:”“In order to win, a team needs a strong group. I think we have it, but we still need 1 or 2 players to compliment it and make the team even stronger than it is today. If David Luiz and Oscar join us, we’ll become much stronger for sure.”
Chelsea earlier received £37.1 million from Juan Mata and if they sell David Luiz, it will help Chelsea to keep FFP in check, with the London club linked with big money moves for Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Mario Mandzukic. According to The Telegraph, Chelsea want to sign Juventus’ Paul Pogba, Atlético Madrid’s Koke or Paulinho of Tottenham Hotspur.
