John Terry has all but conceded losing his teammate Petr Cech to Arsenal by claiming that the Gunners will save 15 points each season by signing the Czech.

Arsene Wenger’s side are closing in on a move to sign the experienced 33-year-old, having agreed personal terms and a modest transfer fee yet to be decided.

And Chelsea captain Terry has praised his teammate for more than a decade for his professionalism, and understands why he wants to leave after losing his place between the sticks to Thibaut Courtois.

Talking talkSPORT, Terry said, “There’s talk of Arsenal signing Petr Cech and, if they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 or 15 points a season,”

“Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left out of the team it can be hard to accept but, when he came in, he was exceptional.

“He deserves a lot of credit for that. We understand he wants to play first-team football but nobody wants to see him leave the club. He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve any side he goes to.”

While Chelsea are holding out for £9-11million, Arsenal are not willing to pay more than £7million . The move will also see Cech bag a salary of £100,000-a-week, thus making him the clubs highest earner alongside Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott
