Everton have completed the signing of Chelsea youngster Christian Atsu on a season long deal. The Ghana winger dazzled in the World Cup in Brazil earlier but has failed to notch up a starting eleven spot for the Stamford Bridge outfit after joining the London club from Porto last season. The 22-year-old was immediately loaned to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for the 2013-14 season and manager Jose Mourinho believes that yet another loan spell will do the winger a world of good.
Atsu’s signing will surely boost Everton’s quest for a top four finish this season after they narrowly missed out last term in Roberto Martinez’s first season in charge. The Ghana youngster is Atsu is the Toffees’ fourth signing of the summer after Lukaku, Brendan Galloway, Muhamed Besic, and Gareth Barry all signed for the Blues of Merseyside this summer. Atsu now is in line to make his Premier League debut against newly promoted Leicester on Saturday.
Martinez seemed delighted of his new signing, speaking highly about the youngster, “He’s a player who fits in with the culture and the way we want to play. He’s a very gifted technical footballer and he’s got the right personality and character to fit in with the group, which is vital”
