Chelsea have made a transfer bid for Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez, according to the reports.
However, the Blues failed in their pursuit to sign him as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez have blocked the move. James Rodriguez is interested in a move to England but Real Madrid are reportedly looking for a massive £60 million to let the talented winger leave Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Daily Mirror, Italian champions Juventus are also interested to sign the Colombian international but Chelsea looks favorites to sign him despite Juve interest.
Rodriguez has impressed in his first season at Real Madrid after his €45 million from AS Monaco in 2014 but failed to replicate the performances of the second season which had made new coach Zidane look for other options.
The 25-year old have fallen further down the pecking order at Real Madrid under new manager Zinedine Zidane with the emergence of Marco Asensio.
Chelsea are keen to add more options to both their attack and defense as they look to strengthen their squad for the new season. The Blues were actively linked with James Rodriguez and are willing to try to sign him until the transfer window closes.
Chelsea have to land big signings with their rivals Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all making key signings to strengthen their respective squads. The Blues have so far signed only striker Michy Batshuayi and midfielder N’Golo Kante and have been failing to land their desired targets this summer.
