Chelsea are set to rekindle their interest in signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku as Ronald Koeman is considered as the top contender for Barcelona job in summer, according to reports.
The Catalan club are looking to find a new manager as they are set to let Luis Enrique leave at the end of the season after their embarrassing loss to PSG in the first leg at Parc des Princes.
Ronald Koeman is said to be one of the front-runners for the job as he was a legend at the club and had also worked as assistant manager earlier. However, Sevilla’s Jorge Sampaoli, Athletic Bilbao’s Ernesto Valverde and Real Sociedad’s Eusebio Sacristan are also considered to be in frame for one of the toughest jobs in the world of football.
But if Koeman leaves for Camp Nou, the future of Romelu Lukaku will once again be unclear as he remained with the Toffees because of the Dutch manager, who ensured that he stays at Goodison Park despite interest from Chelsea last summer.
Lukaku is in spectacular form this season once again as he has already scored 16 goals in Premier League, making him one of the hottest young prospects in Europe once again at the end of the season.
Chelsea are keen to sign the Belgian international, who they sold to Everton for £28million in 2014 especially considering Diego Costa is yet to sign a new deal amid Atletico Madrid interest, who are keen to raid Chelsea for Costa once again next summer.
The 23-year old has flown back to Belgium to consult a specialist about his calf injury while the rest of the squad left for Dubai to train in short mid-season break they got.
Despite being no signs from the player to quit at the moment, Chelsea will hope they could lure the player if needed next summer. However, his agent Mino Raiola had recently suggested the player could sign a new deal at the club.
