According to latest reports, Chelsea are ready to sign Liverpool’s striker Rickie Lambert in a shocking deal. The Blues are looking for a suitable replacement for Didier Drogba as he is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 33-year old is seen as an ideal replacement for Didier Drogba as a back-up option to Diego Costa who is getting injured quite often and Loic Remy. It is also reported that Chelsea have sent scouts to watch Lambert against QPR last weekend.
Drogba who is currently 37 will run out of contract at the end of the season but there are no official contract talks which leaves to the conclusion that the player will leave this summer.
He moved from Southampton to Liverpool last summer but could not break into first team despite Sturridge sidelined for most of the season and Balotelli looked completely out of sorts since his Liverpool debut.
The former Southampton striker have rejected an offer to move to Aston Villa in January but reports suggest that the player is happy to leave Anfield this summer. Chelsea would have to spend £5million to secure the services of the striker as both Hull City and Crystal Palace are also interested in the player’s services.
