Chelsea are taking a hard stance on the sale of their left-back Filipe Luis. Initially, it was thought that Atletcio Madrid had agreed on a £15million transfer after the Brazilian enjoyed a nightmarish season at Stamford Bridge.
According to Marca, Luis traveled to Madrid after Chelsea’s permission and has completed his medical as well, however, AS have now revealed a fresh Chelsea’s approach to Atletico demanding a higher fee for Luis.
It appears that the La Liga side have refused to agree to Chelsea’s terms and Filipo Luis’ transfer to his former side has hit a snag. Luis grew increasingly unhappy at Chelsea after being benched for best part of the season after the emergence of Cesar Azpilicueta.
It is being believed that Chelsea are delaying the deal deliberately as they are yet to tie up a deal with Bundesliga defender Baba Rehman as Luis’ apt replacement. Jose Mourinho wants to be sure of adding a left-back to his side before letting Luis go.
Luis spent two successful seasons at Calderon, one of which saw him win the La Liga title with Atletico Madrid and after a disappointing season with Chelsea, moving back to Spain was his best choice.
