Arsenal are close to extending contracts of star midfielders Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, according to reports.
There were negotiations over new contracts for both the players since May but nothing was finalized as the duo were left busy with international commitments over the summer.
Alexis Sanchez have helped Chile retain the Copa America title while Mesut Ozil helped Germany secure semi-finals in Euro 2016 where they lost to hosts France. The duo were rumored to turn down the contracts offered by the club earlier in the summer.
However, the Gunners now believe they are close to tying down both the players for long-term future, according to Daily Mirror.
Both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are very important players for Arsenal as they are the pivotal blocks in their attack and the ones for the foreseeable future. It is important for Arsene Wenger to tie down both the players who are world class in their lineup and could play a major role in Arsenal’s proceedings in the coming years.
It is now believed Mesut Ozil is ready to commit the future to the club with his close friend Shkodran Mustafi signing for the club last month. The Gunners have made a slow start to the season but the form of Sanchez and Ozil has helped the Gunners to clinch crucial points with wins over Watford and Southampton.
The contracts of Ozil and Sanchez are in their top priority as Gunners would be a major boost if the duo could sign new contracts with the club.
