Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign the Benfica superstar Nicolas Gaitan for a reported fee of £21million.
According to a leading Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Manchester United are in a position to announce the signing on Friday after Gaitan has played in the taca da Liga final for Benfica.
Gaitan has been long standing target for Manchester United even from the days of Sir Alex Ferguson but a move could never be materialized, but it looks like Gaitan could finally be set to seal his Old Trafford move.
Manchester United have stormed ahead of Chelsea to sign the Argentine international, who is known to be very good friends with fellow Man United star Angel Di Maria.
Earlier in the season, it was suggested that Di Maria had suggested the United hierarchy to sign Gaitan in the summer. Manchester United seems to have obliged to Di Maria’s plea and go ahead with the £21million signing of Nicolas Gaitan.
Gaitan is a wide-attacking player who loves to dominate his opposing full-back. The 27-year old right-footed winger would add the much needed pace to United’s squad.
Gaitan will have to earn his place in the United playing 11 because the club already has the likes of Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and the newly signed Memphis Depay as the available wide players.
Despite all of these wingers present at Old Trafford, United have sanctioned a £21million move for Nicolas Gaitan and are all set to announce his transfer this coming Friday.
