The two clubs from Liverpool, Everton FC and Liverpool FC took on each other in the first Merseyside Derby of the season at the Goodison Park on Sunday in an early kick-off. Both teams would have liked all three points in the bag, but two first-half goals from either side made sure that the game ends in a 1-1 draw.

Here are the Player Ratings for this match

Everton:

Tim Howard (2.5): Should have gone out to collect the ball for Ings goal from the corner. But made some crucial saves to give his side a point.

Tyias Browning (3): Was not a real attacking threat down his flank but stuck to his defensive tasks well.

Phil Jagielka (3.5): An excellent display from the Evertonian as he broke up play and made loads of crucial interceptions that kept his side in the game.

Ramiro Funes Mori (3): Replaced a settled John Stones but was not as assured as him. However, made some tackles that broke play and set Everton on the attack.

Brendan Galloway (3): Ever-improving on the flank, the left back has shown great promise at both ends of the field for the home side.

Gareth Barry (3): Did a great job providing cover to the back four and also kept Everton’s game ticking all the time.

James McCarthy (3): Was denied a goal by Mignolet in the first half but was not really at his best at dictating play like he wanted to.

Gerard Deulofeu (2.5): His cross provided the goal for the home side but was really ineffective playing on the flank.

Steven Naismith (3): Was tireless in his display and had a header from point-blank range saved by Simon Mignolet.

Ross Barkley (2.5):  A mixed evening for Barkley as he was outstanding at times but also gave the ball away too easily in the final third.

Romelu Lukaku (3): Continuing his good form, Lukaku finished off in sublime fashion to equalize and also troubled the Liverpool defense whenever he was on the ball.

Martin Skrtel (3.5): Was commanding in the air against the likes of Lukaku and kept his head when his team mates were run ragged by Everton.

Mamadou Sakho (3): Lost his head at the end of the game and got booked. But was exceptional in his distribution with a passing percentage of 99.

Nathaniel Clyne (3): Seemed to be everywhere down his flank as he supported the attacks and also stuck to his defensive tasks well.

James Milner (3.5): Full of energy as usual and created a number of half-chances. Tested Howard a number of times and controlled the tempo of the game.
