Arsene Wenger has not had the best start to his new Premier League season as his team has managed to take just a point from the first two fixtures against Liverpool and Leicester City last two weekends.
They showed a bit of a weakness in the midfield as his team have not been able to dominate games in the middle which has cost them already in the season.
So it comes as a shock that Granit Xhaka is the only midfield signing in the summer transfer window by the Gunners.
However, one player who has left the club this summer is now finding a place elsewhere leaving Arsenal with no easy options to add to his squad.
Mathieu Flamini, who was let go by Arsene Wenger on a free after his contract at the Emirates expired is reportedly on his way out of England this summer.
The 32-year old French midfielder has been a long-term servant at the Emirates making 242 appearances in two stints with the Premier League outfit.
However, he was completely out of favor last season and was used only when injuries hit the squad and was not able to impress the manager enough to warrant a contract extension.
And it is now understood that he is heading to Turkey with Caykur Rizespor having already agreed on a fee for the midfielder.
Emmanuel Adebayor, the former Arsenal man is also reportedly all but a Rizespor player with the club revealing that a deal for both players has already been agreed.
He is also a free agent having not signed a contract extension with Crystal Palace at the end of the last season.
“We reached an agreement in principle with both players,” Caykur Rizespor coach Hikmet Karaman told Anadolu Agency. “They’ll come to Rize within a few days and the last step of negotiations are going to be done.
“This is down to everyone devotedly working to finish the deals, so I have to thank the board of directors and our president,” he added.
Caykur Rizespor started their Turkish Super Lig season with a 1-1 draw against Konyaspor on Saturday and it will be interesting to see if the former Arsenal duo can work their magic in Turkey.
