Chelsea are set to make Diego Costa the top earning football at the club by offering him a new contract worth £57million, according to reports.

The Spaniard, who has been in sensational form for the Blues, will sign a new five year contract that will see him earn £220,000 a week plus bonuses which could accumulate to a massive £65million, Sunsport claims.

The deal would see him leapfrog fellow Spaniard Cesc Fabregas at Stamford Bridge and will make him one of the five highest paid footballers in Premier League with Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney topping the list.

The 28-year old was linked with a move to China earlier last month but the player have cleared his differences with manager Conte after getting dropped for the game against Leicester in January.

Manager Antonio Conte has revealed that the player is happy to stay at the club after the feud and has hinted he could sign a new deal earlier while speaking to BBC’s Premier League show.

He said: “Is everything calm now? Yes.

“Diego is a really important player. The situation is very clear. He is very happy to stay with us. He is very happy to fight for the title.

“Will he stay here for a long time? Yes, I think so. I think so.

“I see him every day and I see his commitment, his behaviour is very involved in the team. He loves this club.”

However, the new deal will not match the crazy £30million-a-year that Tianjin Quanjin were ready to offer him but will certainly make him the top most earned player at the London club as they look on course to win Premier League this season.

Diego Costa has scored 15 goals for Chelsea across all competitions this season and has been their most important player so far having scored some important winners in the league to keep them on top.
