Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Premier League rivals, Liverpool to sign striker Christian Benteke for a fee of £32 million.
The Belgian international is all set to travel to London to have the medical and finalise terms of the deal.
Benteke would be Palace’s record signing, with the previous highest signing was that of Andros Townsend who joined from Newcastle for £13m in July.
Liverpool, who signed the striker for £32.5 million in July last year, had previously rejected a bid of £23 million plus £7 million in add-ons with the bonus payments considered unrealistic by the Merseyside club.
Palace manager Alan Pardew is short of forward players after the departures of Emmanuel Adebayor, Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh, and the Palace boss has money to spend after selling Yannick Bolasie to Everton for £28m.
Benteke scored 9 goals for the Reds since joining them from Aston Villa. However, the 25-year failed to convince Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and fell out of favour with the club.
