Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville had a funny banter with his colleague at Sky Sports and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher on twitter about how thinks Fellaini will score the winner against Liverpool in two weeks’ time.
The pair were having a go at Van Gaal’s selection of Marouane Fellaini to play as the number 10 behind Wayne Rooney against Newcastle. Carragher started the whole banter by claiming to watch United play long balls and back passes with Fellaini in the side.
Neville in his familiar witty style replied promptly by claiming to see Fellaini score the winning goal against Carragher’s former side Liverpool when the two teams will play each other at Anfield on 22 March. If that was not enough, Neville claimed that Fellaini’s goal will come at the KOP end.

Van Gaal has looked to use Fellaini further up the field due to his aerial presence and if we look at the stats the call is justified as the Belgian has won 52 aerial duels, which is more than any other United player this season.
Fellaini has also bagged 3 goals this season, which further enhances Neville’s claims of the Belgian scoring the winner. Liverpool have looked to play a 3-men defence this season and with Brendan Rodgers adopting a zonal marking system, Fellaini could really be handful for the Liverpool’s defence.
Manchester United’s match against Liverpool would be crucial for both the side’s chances of finishing in top 4 this season. Liverpool currently trail United by 2 points but with kind of form Brendan Rodgers’ side is showing, it would not be a surprise if Liverpool pip United for the last spot in the top 4.
