Matt Miazga is set to spend the season on loan at Espanyol, according to latest reports.
Chelsea have already confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Paris Sailnt-Germain for defender David Luiz
Luiz left Stamford Bridge two years ago for £50million – a world-record fee for a defender – but is now set to complete a sensational return to the club on transfer deadline day.
The centre-back’s arrival means Miazga is unlikely to be given much first-team opportunity this season.
New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is understood to have spent much of the summer in search of a new centre-back and Miazga has reportedly attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.
But the Blues are thought to believe his development will be better aided by a spell in Spain.
Miazga initially signed in January from New York Red Bulls in a deal worth £3.5m.
But the US international, who has two caps to his name, has only played twice for his new club and was taken off at half-time after struggling against Swansea.
