The summer transfer window before the start of the current season was one of the busiest in recent times in the Premier League and this summer seems like it does not want to disappoint.
A few of clubs in the Premier League and a whole lot more in Europe are set to spend big money on star player but there are a few clubs who are trying to build from scratch.
Catalan giants Barcelona are in the market for a new manager after Luis Enrique has not been able to get his team close to glory yet.
The Spanish giants are trailing behind Real Madrid in the domestic league and are all but out of the Champions League barring a miracle. The manager has little chance of retaining his place and the Barca owners are already looking for replacements.
And this is now coming to hurt Premier League club Arsenal, who might also be in the market for a new manager.
Arsene Wenger, the loyal 67-year old gaffer, who has lifted Arsenal to new heights in his two decades at the Emirates, is under severe pressure as his side are also struggling to find consistency.
After a decent start to the season, Arsenal have lost their way in the Premier League and were battered at the Allianz Arena, ending their Champions League hopes.
Though they are alive in the FA Cup, that trophy might not keep Wenger’s job who wants to wait till the end of the season before signing a new contract.
It is rumored that the Arsenal hierarchy are also on a hunt for potential replacements and they might have just lost their top target to Barcelona.
The Gunners were looking at Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri as the perfect man to replace Wenger at the Emirates but reported today will come as bad news for them.
English news outfit Express claim that Barcelona have now made him their prime target to replace Luis Enrique.
Though nothing is concrete, reports earlier suggested that Allegri is in advanced talks with the English outfit but it is now understood that Barcelona are offering him the job at the Camp Nou.
It is also revealed that Allegri’s relationship with Barcelona’s Sporting Director Ariedo Braida could see Allegri shift to Catalonia come the end of the season.
The La Liga champions are also looking at Everton’s Ronald Koeman and Tottenham Hotspur’s Mauricio Pochettino as possible replacements but are convinced that they can lure Allegri in the summer.
Wenger is yet to sign a two-year extension that is believed to still be on the table and with replacements not easy to find, it might be a nice time for the Frenchman to put pen to paper.
Do you think Allegri will reject Barcelona for Arsenal?
