According to news on social media, Steven Gerrard might announce he is leaving at the end of the season tomorrow. Later, it was confirmed MLS side, LA Galaxy have offered him a contract to join them in the summer.

Steven Gerrard and Liverpool have failed to reach a common ground for Gerrard’s contract renewal which has been dragging way too long for every Liverpool fan’s comfort. It all came to a standstill last night when Brendan Rodgers admitted to the fact that, “Liverpool are looking at the rival offers for Steven Gerrard”.

It is almost unthinkable to see Steven Gerrard play for some other club than Liverpool. As Di Marzio reports, LA galaxy have been the very first club to put forward an offer for the Liverpool great. Gerrard, who has played all his life for Liverpool was tipped to end his career at Liverpool but as they say, “All the good love stories do not have the perfect ending”, seems like Steven Gerrard-Liverpool love affair will last only till 2014-15 campaign.

Steven Gerrard has been taking his time to ponder over the new contract offer, if at all, it has been offered to him. If not, then Gerrard is right in assessing his options. After all, he cannot give up playing if his current club does not think highly enough of him. Gerrard can have Frank Lampard as the perfect example in this scenario. A Chelsea reject is now scoring crucial goals to aid Manchester City towards another league title.

As things stand, for now, LA Galaxy look to be Gerrard’s next destination. But when a player of Gerrard’s calibre becomes available, I am sure offers will come flying in from all corners of the world. Steven Gerrard might have come to the end of his Liverpool career but he is far away from reaching the last of his playing career. His two goals against Leicester are the biggest example of the nerve and composure Gerrard has on the pitch.
