Lionel Messi’s father has reportedly met with Barcelona club officials as the club to finalising a new deal for the legendary Barcelona forward.

Messi currently has a contract with Barca till the summer of 2018 and will be into his final year of the contract in the summer. There have been speculations that the Argentine could leave his club in summer.

However, the club has taken the right steps are determined to keep the Argentine as they are close to tying him to a new deal that could see him retire at the Catalan club.

Catalan journalist Joaquim Maria Puyal has insisted that it will not be difficult to renew the 29-year old’s contract at the moment.

He said: “It should not be so difficult to renew Messi because Messi is ours.”

Messi has been in fantastic form of late as he managed to achieve 500 goals for Barcelona across all competitions after his injury time winner against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. His brace against their arch rivals have ensured that Blaugrana is in contention for their ninth League title in nine years if Real Madrid slips in the last four league games.

With Messi’s father in the city, Barcelona is confident about the new deal and a move to Premier League is definitely looks near impossible after the recent events. The Argentine is looking to stick with his childhood and only club for a lifetime.
