Liverpool are set to complete their eight summer signing as the Reds have reached an agreement with Sevilla for £12 m deal to sign Spanish left back Alberto Moreno. The 21 year old was manager Brendan Rodgers’ main transfer target. Moreno was expected to play for Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup clash with Real Madrid last night at Cardiff but his name was later pulled out as Liverpool director agreed with with Sevilla’s representatives to sign the youngster.
Moreno hence will become Liverpool’s eighth signing of the summer subject to a medical in a couple of days. The player is expected to sign a five year contract with the Merseyside outfit. Earlier talks had stalled between Liverpool and Sevilla as the Spanish club were insistent on their €20m price tag for Moreno, but Liverpool’s persistence has paid off as the current deal looks to be a bargain given the quality Moreno will bring at Anfield.
Martin Kelly however will head towards the exit door at Anfield after Liverpool accepted a £1.5m bid from Crystal Palace for the defender, whose career has been hindered by a serious knee injury in recent years.
