Liverpool expected line-up to face Chelsea

For the first time, Liverpool and Manchester City will face each other in a cup final and the stage is set at Wembley for both the managers to lift the first silverware of this season. Liverpool ran Manchester City ragged at the Etihad earlier this season in the BPL but playing at Wembley will be something completely new for this Liverpool squad.

Jurgen Klopp has finally been able to get a fit squad and will travel to Wembley with a strong front line. The manager revealed that the duo of Skrtel and Lovren are back in training but will not make this trip along with mid-fielders Adam Lallana and Joe Allen who are injured. Klopp is expected to field a similar XI to the last two games against Augsburg which will see Sturridge and Coutinho start against on Sunday.

Here is the strongest Liverpool XI that can face Manchester City in the League Cup final:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Goal Keeper:

Simon Mignolet:

The Belgian shot-stopper will play in his third game at Wembley and will be hoping to keep another clean sheet adding to the 3 in the last 3 games for the club.

Defense:

Nathaniel Clyne:

The most accomplished defender for Liverpool this season, Clyne is one of the first names on the team sheet and will be hoping to make an impact against City.

Kolo Toure:

The Ivorian will be up against his brother in blue but explained that he will not have any of that in mind. After being rested for the second leg against Augsburg, he should slot straight into the center of the back four.

Mamadou Sakho:

Though lost some confidence after coming back from injury, Sakho is still an important player for Liverpool at the back and will have to prove his worth against a tough attacking line-up from Manchester City.

Alberto Moreno:

Though he has had his critics, Moreno has created more chances than any other Liverpool player. He will once again be his usual energetic self on the left flank for Liverpool at Wembley.

Mid-field:

Emre Can:

The German national was splendid in the last game against FC Augsburg and will hope to have a similar impact on the game against Manchester City on Sunday.

Jordan Henderson:

The only Liverpool player in the current squad to have lifted a trophy back in 2012, Henderson will be hoping to lift his first silverware as a captain of the team. Surely he will be charged up and can easily be the difference between both the teams.

James Milner:

The England international has sprung to life in the last few games and is now looking more dangerous in the final third. He will up against his former team-mates and will have to help Liverpool to lift the League Cup.

Roberto Firmino:

Firmino has been on and off this season for the Reds but on his day, he can steal the game away from the oppositions in a matter of minutes. He will have to reproduce his form from the Emirates if Liverpool are to stand a chance at winning this cup.

Phillipe Coutinho:

Undoubtedly Liverpool most important player on the night, Coutinho will play an important role for Liverpool on the left side and his trickery in the final third may just be what Liverpool need to unlock the Manchester City defense.

Attack:

Daniel Sturridge:

Another ex-Manchester City player, Daniel Sturridge hs scored just one goal since coming back from injury but his ability to score goals is going to be important for Liverpool if they are to get anything from this game.
