According to the latest reports, Manchester City are ready to launch a bid of £50 million for Liverpool’s winger Raheem Sterling. Sterling is yet to sign a new contract at Anfield despite being offered a new contract recently.
Manchester City have been below par in Europe despite spending hundreds of millions in transfer market. However, the starting line-up for Manchester City did not change much and they don’t have many world class players like Bayern, Barcelona or Real Madrid.
The lack of English flavour is another thing that is hurting Manchester City. Premier League rules suggest that the squad should contain at least 8 English players out of a possible 25. To add to Manchester City’s problems, James Milner is expected to leave City once his contract ends at the end of current season.
Liverpool are currently negotiating with the young winger as the player is also keen to get the deal done if the Reds provide a good pay in the contract. City wants a quality winger like Sterling who can be a world class player soon and the deal meant that City will send a strong message to their rivals in England.
However, Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers will not let their star player leave unless a very big pay check is offered to them this summer.
