The start of the week has been hectic at Anfield as manager Jurgen Klopp is trying to shape his squad for the next season.

This is the first summer transfer window the manager has had since moving to England and he will surely try to get his hands on a number of quality players this summer. So let’s take a look at all the stories surrounding the club today:

The first news that broke out of Liverpool was the exodus the manager has planned for the squad. It was reported that Klopp has issued an ultimatum to the likes of Mario Balotelli, Adam Bogdan, Lucas Leiva, Lazar Markovic, Tiago Ilori and Christian Benteke that they will not find game time if they stay at the club next season.

These players have been linked to various clubs in recent times and looks like just a matter of time before they move away from the club.

And the first signs of excitement came when it was announced that the Reds are closing in on the signature of Estonia captain Ragnar Klavan.

The club has been hit with a mini injury crisis with Joe Gomez and Mamadou Sakho missing out on the start of the season. Joel Matip, the new signing limped off on Sunday in a friendly and the manager realized that he needs some back-up and decided to move for Klavan. It is reported that the player will complete his medical at the club on Tuesday ahead of a £4.2m deal.

It is a wise decision given the number of injuries the squad has had in recent times.

Moving on, Liverpool seem poised to complete yet another addition to their midfield after it is reported that they are close to a move for Newcastle star Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutch international scored 11 goals in the league last season and is priced at around £27m but the Anfield outfit is quite confident that a deal can be struck for around the £20m mark. More reports emerged that the likes of Lucas Leiva or Jon Flanagan may be involved in a cash + player deal for the 25-year old attacker.

It is a sensible move for the club as the quality and versatility provided by the midfielder will be helpful for the club under pressure. Though not official announcement is out yet, this deal seems all but done and might be announced within the week.

To wrap off with what is the rumor of the day, Manchester United, Liverpool’s arch rivals are reportedly interested in signing in-form Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen.

Allen has not been able to impress the Anfield faithful in his time under Rodgers but he seemed to turn a corner under Klopp and was exceptional recently with his national team in the EUROs in France.

He is a player who needs to play regularly to stay in form and with Liverpool already overloaded in the midfield, Allen seems to be pondering over a move away from the club.

He is linked with a move to Swansea and Sevilla in the past but it is now understood that Mourinho is thinking about making a move for the 26-year old.

The manager wants the likes of Paul Pogba or Cesc Fabregas in the midfield next season but with Allen in some good form, Mourinho seems to think that he is a good alternative.
