Ahead of the big game at the Anfield between Liverpool and Tottenham, Liverpool manager has fired a direct shot at Harry Kane claiming Daniel Sturridge will remain as England’s best striker even when Kane plays for England. In a proper tactician manner Brendan Rodgers has praised Harry Kane on one hand and at the same time claimed Sturridge is better than the Spurs hitman.
Harry Kane has risen to prominence is last 3-4 months only. People will be shocked to know that Kane had only played 65 minutes of top-flight football before November. Since then he has been unstoppable, 12 goals in 14 starts for the boyhood Spurs fan. Brendan Rodgers acknowledged the extent of Kane’s achievements and claimed that Kane will soo start for England.
Rodgers said, it is a matter of when not if for Kane to make his International debut for three lions. England manager was in stands to watch Harry Kane beat Arsenal in the NOrth London Derby with 2 sublime goals. Newspapers across UK have already talked Kane in to Hodgson’s team for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers and it will be a shock if Kane does not make in to Hodgson’s side very soon.
Brendan Rodgers however, was unphased by kane’s talks and remained convinced as to who is the best striker in England, and for him it’s Daniel Sturridge. Rodgers challeneged every up and coming ENgland strikers to match the standards which Sturridge has set while playing for Liverpool and England. Liverpool manager relsihed the possibility Kane’s arrival on the scene claimed it will only make Sturridge and even better striker.
‘I’m sure Daniel is happy there’s another English striker there,’ said Rodgers. ‘If Harry Kane’s going to be of the level to go on and play for England — which I believe he is — that helps Daniel and the other Liverpool players who play for England because it means you get another top-quality striker. But, for me, there is not anyone better than Daniel Sturridge.
‘He’s got everything in his game if he’s playing consistently. His goalscoring record, his pace, his power — he’s got everything and as an English striker there’s no-one better than him.
Daniel Sturridge is recently making his comeback from an injury which has kept him out of the game for almost 5 months now. After making three substitute appearance since his comeback (already scored 1 goal in that time), Sturridge and Liverpool fans will hope for his first start in last 5 months.
Brendan Rodgers will be tempted to start Sturridge even more after the news broke out that Raheem Sterling is set to miss tonight’s game with a foot injury. Rodgers’ comments have spiced up the Sturridge vs Kane battle and it will be fascinating to see which England Striker outscores the other.
