LvG press conference: he talks about injuries, also applauds Vardy and Ranieri

  • Manchester United face Premier League leaders Leicester City on Saturday. The English giants come back from a disappointing 0-0 draw at Old Trafford against PSV Eindhoven. Whereas Leicester City will leave no stone unturned to beat the mighty team from Manchester and continue reigning from the top spot.

Manchester United’s main threat will be Jamie Vardy who is on an unstoppable journey of goals. The Englishman is breaking records one after the other and is set to beat Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record as well. Leicester City look a strong squad and Manchester United will have a tough time beating them.

Before the fixture, Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal had a press conference with the media. Here are some things which were discussed by him. Louis told MUTV that Ander Herrera will miss the game after he faced an injury in the former game. Along with Ander, Phil Jones too will not be a part of the squad that faces Leicester on Saturday.

Ashley Young has been looking upto the Leicester game after the lads put up an awful result in the Champions League. he says the Reds are determined to build further on the recent positive domestic form. And, of course, victory tomorrow would take us top.

On top-of-the-table Leicester, van Gaal said: “I don’t think anybody has expected that [Leicester to be top], even Leicester themselves. But they are deserved at number one because points are the most important thing; goals are important, but winning points is more important.”

On being asked about Vardy who will potentially break yet another record, LvG said, ” He was already last year a very nasty player for us. He scores, he provoked a penalty and now he is scoring in a row ten goals so now you are a great player. I only know, for example, Dennis Bergkamp as a player with me did the same with Ajax and that is not so easy.

Louis van Gaal expressed about his bitter sweet experiences against Leicester boss, Claudio Ranieri, by saying, “He is an excellent manager. He has guided very big clubs in Italy and in Spain and now he is doing that here, and I am very happy that he is able to do that.”

Manchester United defender Daley Blind too had to say something on the game, he added, ‘’ “It won’t be easy, they’re a good team with good organisation, but we have a good team as well and a lot of confidence. We will go over there and do the best we can.”
