The youngster picked his first national cap for the senior team in Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to Bulgaria and impressed in the outing.

He has also scored twice this season for the Portuguese franchise in addition to his splendid work in front of the back four.

In addition to a box to box mid-fielder, Sanches is an intelligent player on the ball and has plenty of experience even for his tender age.

Manchester United have regularly kept a tab on the 18-year old’s progress and have sent a number of scouts to watch him in action.

Benfica are expected to slap a straight £30m price on the player, with a further £17m payment with a number of clauses inserted in his contract if United are ready to meet the asking price.

Manchester United have in recent times not been able to win silverware but they have managed to accumulate a very splendid squad with a number of youngsters who will only take the club in a forward direction.

With the likes of Anthony Martial and Luke Skaw, United already have a couple of youngsters who have loads of potential and the Red Devils are now looking to add Renato Sanches to the list this summer.
