Manchester United starlet Jesse Lingard handed the three lions with major win in the ongoing under-21 Euro Championship. Lingard who came off the bench on the 53rd minute mark struck a sweet half-volley on the 85’ minute mark to ensure England’s victory against Sweden.

England were beaten 1-0 in their first group game against Portugal and needed to win this game to keep their chances of qualifying from the group alive. Lingard ensured that with his crucial goal that, going in to the last group game, England’s future remained in their hands.

Going in to the Championship, England were tipped as the firm favorites with the likes of Harry Kane and Danny Ings in their ranks. However, two games have passed by and the both Premier League strikers have failed to score even once.

In the game against Sweden as well, England’s possession play looked flat and they looked unable to break the resolute Swedish defense.

Despite the presence of Premier League quality, Lingard came up with the goods and has further established his claims of making a big impression next season with Manchester United.

It has been a successful season for Manchester United youngsters with Andreas Pereira reaching the U-20 world cup final and scoring a wonder goal. After Pereira, Lingard now has made a big mark on the world stage and has assured United fans of a brighter future ahead.
