Manchester United midfielder is a target for Serie A giants AC Milan who want to bring the Belgian on loan with an option to sign him permanently next season. Marouane Fellaini has not featured regularly for Manchester United this season and only injuries to other midfielders have helped him get a place in the starting XI. Fellaini has started only 11 matches in the Premier League this season and scored 2 goals for Manchester United.
The Belgian signed for Manchester United in 2013 after leaving Everton in 2013 but he hasn’t been able to replicate the form he showed for the Merseyside club. Although most of the United team are having a nightmarish season, poor Fellaini has become the scapegoat.
But, thankfully for him, AC MILAN are ready to offer him an escape route as the Serie A giants want to take him on loan for the remainder of the season before trying to sign him permanently in the summer. According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, agent Luciano D’Onofrio will be meeting Milan’s Adriano Galliani to see if a deal can be done. While Milan is more inclined towards a loan deal, United would prefer to get rid of him permanently. United value Fellaini at £20m and would be unwilling to sell him for less. However, if Fellaini pushes for a move United may grant him his wish rather than forcibly keep an unhappy player.
Fellaini was signed by Moyes for United in 2013 and had a forgettable debut season where he failed to score even once. The other two seasons haven’t been memorable either as Fellaini has always been a squad player under Van Gaal who plays him as a striker more often than not. Fellaini is a central midfielder but his performances in either part of the pitch have been disappointing and perhaps it is in best interests of all the parties involved that Fellaini leaves United for good.
