Manchester United were given a surprise injury boost ahead of their massive Derby against Manchester City when Robin Van Persie attended his first full training in 2 months and declared himself fit ahead of the Derby.
Van Persie has been out of action since the FA Cup Quarter Final clash against Arsenal on 27th February and has not featured for United since then. Van Gaal had earlier cleared that, United will give the Dutch striker full time to recover and will not rush him in to action.
It was thought that Van Persie will not be back before United’s clash against Chelsea 2 weeks from now but Van Persie has surprised everyone and by announcing his comeback on twitter. Van Persie has earmarked his message to the manager that he is back and is fit to start for United against Man City
Van Persie used his twitter account to break the news to all those who have been waiting for an update on striker’s return. Persie has made his intentions clear about playing a game as soon as possible and has hinted to play some part in the Manchester Derby against Manchester City.
Van Gaal will not take the risk of starting with Van Persie but the former Arsenal man will prove to be a lethal option to have on the bench if Manchester United fall behind in the game and need a goal or two.
Van Persie has fond memories of playing the Manchester Derby as in his first season with United, he scored a late free kick to win the game for the red side of Manchester.
