Agent Miroslav Bicanic has confirmed that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is a potential target for both Chelsea and Arsenal.
The 23-year-old is expected to leave Internazionale this summer with Serie A giants Roma also interested in securing his services.
Bicanic confirmed that Chelsea representatives are in Italy to make a first offer to the Nerazzurri.
“It’s true, top European clubs are interested,” he is quoted as saying by FCInterNews.
“I heard Chelsea representatives are in Milan and also that Arsenal want to sign him.
“Internazionale want to sell him and they will sell to a club ready to make a fair offer.
“I am in Zagreb and there are still days before the end of the transfer window.
“And until Marcelo signs a contract with a new club, he still belongs to Internazionale.”
Brozovic is a difficult player to categorise. He is not an outright creative player, nor is he especially combative; he usually plays a box-to-box role but lacks the physicality or speed usually associated with it.
Indeed, he performs best as the adaptable third wheel in a midfield three in which the others take charge of the dedicated defensive (ArijanAdemi at Dinamo) and creative (Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric for Croatia) tasks.
Reports in the English press have dubbed Brozovic the “Croatian Xavi” — a moniker that somewhat overestimates his ability.
Although he is neat and tidy in possession and does occasionally provide incision, he has not yet demonstrated Xavi’s ability to impose himself on a match and control the rhythm of play.
