Liverpool has been hit by a huge blow as their captain Jordan Henderson has traveled to the USA for a treatment of a heel injury.
The captain has been out of action since Bournemouth game, but it was thought that he will return to the squad this week, but things did not turn out to be the same.
Under-pressure Brendan Rodgers has to play without his key player for an extended spell.
Luckily Henderson won’t need an operation but he flew to America on Monday together with club doctor Andy Massey to visit New Jersey-based orthopaedic specialist James Cozzarelli.
This a very bad news for Liverpool fans who did not see the midfield trio of Lucas Leiva, Emre Can and James Milner doing well. They are missing the newly assigned captain’s energy and work-rate as well as his leadership and determination.
A reliable journalist when it comes to Liverpool, James Pearce of Liverpool Echo further reports:
Henderson will have treatment on the injury, which is causing him discomfort in both his heel and the sole of his foot, in a bid to accelerate his return to action. Crucially, though, the 25-year-old is NOT due to undergo surgery.
Liverpool were initially hopeful that the England man would be fit to return to action after the international break, but are now set to be without him for an extended spell, though they have so far been unable to put a timeline on his return.
This news came in a very bad time for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers who is under massive pressure from the fans and the pundits who are singling out his poor tactics for the Reds’ poor display and also a page has been opened to raise funds for his sacking.
The team has to tart performing if Rodgers wants to keep his job and for the time being they have to do it without the captain.
