Mauro Icardi’s wife, who also works as his agent, has arrived in London to discuss a move to Arsenal for the Inter Milan captain, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the San Siro this summer with his future uncertain.
Arsenal have been keeping tabs on Icardi’s situation in Milan for a long time and are already said to have held preliminary talks.
But negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days with news of Nara, Icardi’s wife, travelling to England’s capital.
Italian publication Calciomercato claims Nara will stay in London for a week and talks with the Gunners are likely to place.
The report claims Icardi is yet to discuss his contract with Inter and in the meantime, Napoli are lining up a move.
Having recently received £75m from Gonzalo Higuain’s departure, the Serie A giants are ready to sell Icardi with a price tag of £55m.
But Arsenal will hope their efforts to sign the Argentine will progress in the coming days when they hold talks.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to land a marquee signing up front having failed to land Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette.
The Gunners have been linked with Icardi previously but Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio made it clear that The Argentine is not for sale at any price, but it now seems things could turn in a different way.
Arsene Wenger had last month seen a £29.3million offer for Lacazette rejected and could yet continue his pursuit for the £42m-rated Frenchman.
But if the Arsenal boss eventually decides to fall back, as Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has hinted, then a move for Icardi would be next up.
The young Argentinean forward scored an impressive 22 league goals last season and has followed that up with another 16 this campaign. He is starting to show consistency in his goal scoring and, at just 23-years-old, he still has room to improve.
