Portuguese daily A Bola claims that the Foxes have been sending scouts to see if Carcela suits their style of play for some time and are enquiring about his availability, claims The Sun.
The 26-year-old Moroccan started his career at his hometown Standard Liege, in Belgium. Later he switched to the Russian big-spending club Anzhi, which was a lucrative move.
Unfortunately, for some footballers things don’t work out in some the clubs as they remain unsettled there, the same thing happened with Carcela. Right after his move to the Russian club Anzhi, the club faced some serious financial issues and had to transfer list their whole squad to get out of that issue. With disappointment and hopelessness, the Moroccan returned to Standard, where he performed consistently well and that convinced Benfica to provide him a four-year contract.
In the 2015/16 season, the Morrocan has 27 appearances for Benfica and the defensive midfielder has scored twice.
PSV Eindhoven, who are in pursuit of a second successive title, are also interested in Carcela and any deal would likely be in the £5m region.
Carcela played for his motherland, Belgium twice after joining their youth system but back in 2010, Carcela changed his mind and went to represent his ancestral Morocco. The 26-year-old has 10 appearances for them.
Leicester City are eager to keep their star players at the King Power Stadium for the next season. They do not want to change the winning combo that conquered all English clubs this season. But the incredible performances from Kante, Riyad Mahrez, and Jamie Vardy will certainly attract big clubs with money, who will try everything to take them away.
Carcela can be a proper replacement for Kante as he works hard and has stamina like an engine, a tireless worker. With quick feet and a decisive mind, Carcela can pick proper passes and more importantly he balances the gameplay by playing offensively along with lying deep in the midfield, which is better than Kante as the Leicester man only focuses on his defensive work rate.
