Senior Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague has confirmed that the transfer of Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi to Premier League is imminent as La Liga side Valencia CF are ready to sell their star center back this summer.
Balague tweeted to confirm the news. His tweet is given below:
Otamendi: Valencia considering offers from City and United. None reaches €50m of buy out clause. Spanish club resigned he will go to the PL

Nicolas Otamendi was initially closely linked with a move to Manchester United in the beginning of this season. Recent reports suggest that United’s city rivals Manchester City too have joined the race for the defender.
Valencia had initially revealed that they would not sell their star unless the €50m buy out clause is not met by any club. Manchester United had retreated their move after listening to Valencia’s demands. But now it is believed that Valencia are no longer adamant and club itself has confirmed Otamendi’s departure to Premier League.
Although the destination of the club is yet to be finalised as the rivals will fight among each other. Though, the €50m release clause will not be matched, the Manchester clubs are expected to flex their money muscles in order to get the player.
Neither of the clubs’ defense look strong enough this season. Except for Vincent Kompany, City does not have a quality defender in their squad. They have a brilliant attack but very poor defense.
Same is the case with United, they have terrible defense and the club are yet to sign a quality defender. They were linked with several big names but none have materialised. Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos was one of their primary target but the deal fell through after the Spanish star agreed to sign a contract extension with Madrid.
It will be an exciting battle off-field between the two rivals for the signature of Nicolas Otamendi in the coming days.
