Manchester City will face German giants Borussia Mönchengladbach tonight in UEFA champions League.

Manchester City has travelled to Germany to face Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second group stage game of UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Both the teams lost their first group stage game of group D as the English side lost 2-1 to Juventus and the German side lost 3-0 to Europa League holders Sevilla. Both the teams will be desperate to win the game in order to qualify for the round of 16.

Manchester City’s bright start to the new season was hit by a blow in the last two weeks. Two back to back defeats in Premier League came their way in the last two weeks after winning the first five league games of the season without conceding a single goal. They have lost three of their last four games in all competitions and a trip to Germany can add to their woes.

They were hammered 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and will be keen to bounce back from the disappointing defeat. Meanwhile, their opponents on Wednesday finally came back to winning ways after starting their season in the worst possible fashion. they suffered five back to back defeats in the first five games of the season but won the last two after a managerial change. Defeating Augsburg and Stuttgart in the at two weeks will boost their confidence.

Manchester City has a lot to prove in the Elite competition of Europe especially after their manager Manuel Pellegrini stating that Manchester City can win UEFA Champions League. After a massive spending in the summer by the owners, the performance of the team will not please the owners and it can be a crucial game for the Chilean gaffer.

Team News- Gladbach will be without the services of captain and experienced centre-back Martin Stranzl as the Austrian is recovering from a fractured eye socket. There are no more injury worries for caretaker manager Andre Schubert, who will be able to call upon the likes of Fabian Johnson, Patrick Herrmann and Alvaro Dominguez after their recent return from injury lay-offs.

Manchester City is in a poor form and the injury status of the team is even more concerning for the manager. Samir Nasri, Wilfried Bony, Gael Clichy, Fabian Delph, Eliaquim Mangala and Vincent Kompany have all been ruled out of the Champions League clash, but Joe Hart and David Silva have travelled to Germany with the rest of the squad.

Predicted Line-up of Borussia Mönchengladbach- Sommer, Korb, Dominguez, Christensen, Wendt, Herrmann, Xhaka, Dahoud, Johnson, Stindl, Raffael

Predicted Line-up of Manchester City- Hart, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Otamendi, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling, Aguero
