AS reported few weeks ago that the Spanish international would be moving to Villareal.
Soldado joined Spurs from Valencia in 2013 for a fee of £26 million and could not impress in the Premier League.
Featuring in 76 games for the North London side, he just netted 16 times.
Sevilla and Benfica were also reported to be interested in Soldado, but the 30-year-old striker prefers Villarreal.
The former Real Madrid striker is not guaranteed playing time at Spurs with Harry Kane on fire, and it is best for him that he leaves White Hart Lane this summer.
Tottenham are close to signing Clinton Mua N’Jie from Lyon and they are also ready cash in Soldado.
The only hindrance to the deal was the transfer fee as the Spanish outfit were not willing to pay the full fee one time and they were hopeful to reach agreements over the installments of the transfer fee.
The deal could be finalised this week with Spurs demanding for £12 million for the Spanish international.
Soldado used to be a prolific goalscorer in Spain and he is capped 12 times for the national team where he found the net 7 times.
The Spanish forward scored 81 goals for Valencia from 141 appearances before moving to England and is hopeful that he will come back to goalscoring form after returning to Spain.
