According to the latest reports from Germany, Liverpool have increased their interest in Real Madrid’s star midfielder Sami Khedira. With Steven Gerrard leaving for MLS based LA Galaxy this summer, Liverpool are looking for a world class central midfielder who can fill in the void left by Gerrard.
Khedira would be a good addition to Liverpool but he is unlike Gerrard who can link up with attack and act as a shield to defenes, Khedira can provide an extra protection to defense and can play a crucial role in build up.
Khedira who will be a free agent this summer has drawn attention from a host of big clubs including Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal. His injury prone seasons at Real Madrid has effected his chances to make into starting XI of Ancelotti’s side having only 15 times in last two seasons.
Khedira has the freedom to sign a pre-contract agreement immediately. Liverpool will be keen to wrap up a pre-contract with many clubs likely to be interested in a free transfer of the World Cup winner this summer.
The Reds are also linked with Serie A’s Pjanic but Khedira is a proven quality with his box to box abilities, powerful mid-range shooting ability and aerial threat that he poses. If Rodgers can persuade the midfielder, it will be one of the biggest bargains in Liverpool transfer history just like Bayern Munich bargained Lewandowski from Dortmund last summer.
However, Jose Mourinho managed Khedira during his time at Real Madrid and it is rumoured Chelsea might be his eventual destination but Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool can make history if they can sign Sami Khedira this summer.
