According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are plotting a big money move for Manchester City target David Alaba.

The 24-year old is one of the best left-backs in the world and has been brought from the ranks of Bayern Munich academy. The Austrian international has been a vital cog during Pep Guardiola’s time at Allianz Arena as he has featured in almost all the games every season.

Pep Guardiola who has recently taken over as manager at Manchester City is keen for a reunion with Alaba but the German giants have kept hold of their interest.

However, in a sudden turn of events, European champions Real Madrid are keen to sign Bayern Munich defender who has recently signed a contract with Bayern which will see him at the club till 2021.

According to AS, the La Liga club would be willing to pay £55million and include France international Raphael Varane as part of the deal. However, it is also  reported that Bayern Munich are keen on signing Pepe instead of Varane and want a bid closer to £68m.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane rates David Alaba very highly as the player is known for his versatility. Despite brought up as a left back, Alaba has grown into a key figure at Bayern having played in roles of holding midfielder, centre defender, Left winger and left back when the team were hit with injuries. He was arguably the best player for Bayern Munich during the Pep Guardiola era.
