The Foxes’ run for the title contenders seemed a mere joke before the start of the season since no one knew about their capability and caliber. Well, the tables have turned now as Leicester City seem to not ending their spell of victories. The team from King Power Stadium went on to defeat the mighty Everton at their home stadium.

In a game that ended 2-3 in the favour of the Foxes, Leicester City witnessed two goals from their unsung hero, Riyad Mahrez. Although all the limelight seems to be taken by club hero Jamie Vardy, truth stands that Riyad Mahrez is definitely the backbone of the team’s attack. Also, without Mahrez, Vardy wouldn’t be half as successful as he is, today.

Mahrez scored twice in the game whereas for the home team, Lukaku scored the only goal for them. Surprisingly, Vardy wasn’t seen on the goal scorer’s sheet as the English lad failed to net a goal anytime in the 90 minutes. With the victory, Leicester City march on to the top of the table. With their successful spell this season, it looks like a fairy tale for the Foxes as they are now very likely to end up as the title winners this season. History is on the Foxes side as five of the last six teams to top the table on December 25 went on to become champions – Liverpool the only exception in 2013-14. Nobody can really anticipate or confirm that the club will end up as the winners of this season, but one thing is assured that Christmas came early for Leicester City as the win had made them table leaders, yet again.
