Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the Reds will soon offer Philippe Coutinho a new long term deal at Anfield. Coutinho has been impressive form in the club’s US tour and has been an integral part of Brendan Rodgers team since his arrival from Inter in a £8.5million bargain deal.

“A new contract for Philippe is something we will look to do over the summer,” Rodgers said.

“He’s certainly on that list. It’s all in hand.

“He’s certainly a valuable player and a great asset to the club.

“He’s come in here and shown his quality, and really developed as a young player.

“Now he’s moving into the best years of his life as a footballer.”

Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan and Suso are also expected to sign new deals in the upcoming months as the Reds perpare themselves to challenge for the Premier league title once again.

“Philippe will probably be glad now he didn’t make the World Cup squad,” he added.

“I can only gauge it on how he was mentally and physically coming back. He came back with a great level of fitness – right on the limit of his weight.

“He’s in great condition, he clearly worked hard in the off season and since he’s come back we’ve seen in the games how strong and aggressive he is.

“He’s 22 and hopefully by the time the next World Cup comes around he will be an important part of the Brazil team I’m sure his best years will be at Liverpool.”

Liverpool have already bought six players in the transfer window and are looking to buy another 3-4 players. Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Divock Origi(will be loaned back to Lille) have all joined the club. Reports suggest, Reds are closing in on Spanish fullbacks Alberto Moreno and Javier Manquillo. Javier Manquillo is expected to sign a two year loan deal with an option to buy and Alberto Moreno should complete a £16 million move this week. The Reds will be looking to sign another striker as Fabio Borini is expected to leave for Sunderland in a £14 million deal. Recently, Brendan Rodgers ruled out a move for Italian international Mario Balotelli after reports in the English media suggested that the Merseyside outfit are preparing a bid for him.
