The best talent in the world of Football is in Europe and it will be safe to assume that these players are currently showcasing their talents in the Big 5. These impact players have their say in technically and commercially most celebrated International and Club competitions such as: FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Championships, UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

Let’s try and assemble a star studded 24-man squad as the 2013-14 UEFA Team of the Season:

Goalkeepers: Buffon, Beto, Thibaut Courtois, David De Gea

Goalkeepers are scrutinized with every action of theirs, it is one of the most thankless jobs where the man on duty has to be fearless and carry his heart on his sleeve. It has been an interesting year where the favorite son of Madrid Iker Casillas lost out in the race for the best goal keepers however his contemporizes Buffon has stayed on the mark and so has Beto from Sevilla and there would be two young guns added into the fray from English powerhouses; Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea and David De Gea from Manchester United

Defenders: Vincent Kompany, John Terry, Miranda, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Philip Lahm, Jorde Alba, Pablo Zabaleta

A strong backline ensures that there are never goals galore for the opposition. All these have remain lynchpins in their respective defensive setup. All of them have the big game experience as well which will help them make a cut above the rest of the players in Europe.

Midfielders: Yaya Toure, David Silva, Xabi Alonso, Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard, Angel Di Maria, Paul Pogba, James Rodriguez

Yaya Toure and David Silva have been the engine behind the success of English Champions Manchester City and when on song they are the most lethal combinations to stop against any top team in Europe. Paul Pogba is the best current midfielder and is destined to be in one of the top two leagues (either England or Spain) sooner rather than later.

Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa

These four men in current form will walk into any football team in the planet. With goals galore these guys have hogged all the limelight for their teams in the recent past and deservedly so. Although Messi had an indifferent 2013-14 campaign, he still created the most and would walk in this team.

Starting Lineup

Buffon (Captain, Goalkeeper), Jerome Boateng & Philip Lahm (Full back), Mats Hummels and Vincent Kompany (Centre Back), Paul Pogba and Xabi Alonso (Midfield), Eden Hazard & Angel Di Maria (Wingers), Lio Messi & Ronaldo (Attack)
