Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United were not able to break into the top-4 of the Premier League last season and the manager paid the price for it with his job.
Jose Mourinho, one of the most decorated managers in world football was put incharge of the club and the Portuguese took no time in stamping his authority on the new squad.
He added the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to his squad already and is on the verge of landing Paul Pogba in a world record deal. However, his purchases in the summer will have to see a number of players leave the squad to make place for them and one such player who might be excess to requirements at the club next season is Matteo Darmian.
Manchester United have been extensively linked with a move for AS Monaco full-back Fabinho after the new manager felt that neither Darmian nor Antonio Valencia are good enough to keep that spot next season.
The 22-year old Brazilian international, Fabinho, is expected to take that place in the first team next season. It is revealed that both clubs have already agreed on a deal and that the player will make the move in the coming days. So this has left the futures of Darmian and Valencia in the balance and it is now understood that Darmian is attracting interests from European clubs.
The Italian national moved to Manchester United last summer and managed to impress one and all in his initial games for the club. But slowly, he faded away and was not able to impress the fans and the manager in the later half of the season.
And with him falling out of favor at Old Trafford, it is understood that Italian outfit Napoli are keen on his signature this summer.
Napoli have dispensed with Gonzalo Higuain on a club record fee and have got some cash to burn this summer. The manager is looking at defensive additions and Matteo Darmian will be a great addition.
Playing back in his native country will help the 26-year old who is expected to cost the Serie A side around £12m, the same price at which he was bought by the English outfit.
He will not have regular game time under Mourinho at Old Trafford next season so it is advisable for the defender to make a move away from the club this summer.
Though it will be hard for the Red Devils to see him go, he may not have enough of a role in the club next season.
