The transfer window is now on full swing but Chelsea are looking relatively silent with only two major signings being Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco and Asmir Begovic from Stoke City.

In the recent weeks, Chelsea have been linked heavily with Everton defender John Stones and also have seen a first bid of £20 million being rejected by the Merseyside club for the 21 year old defender.

Roberto Martinez also criticised Chelsea for their public pursuit over his young asset and insisted that Everton are not a selling club.

Recent reports suggested that, Jose Mourinho could be on the verge of making an improved offer for the Everton wonderkid which would command a record British transfer fee for a defender overtaking Eliaquim Mangala’s transfer fee of £32 million which Manchester City paid for the French international.

John Stones is one the hottest prospects in world football and the 16th most valuable young player in Europe according to Soccerex study.

Chelsea have 3 established center backs in their squad with captain John Terry, Gary Gahill and Kurt Zouma and Stones will have to compete with them for a first team place if he moves to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho has identified the young center back as a perfect replacement of John Terry who is 34 now and his ageing legs will need a replacement in near future and he wants to secure the signature of the highly rated defender now.

John Terry is 34 now and Gary Cahill is 29 and Stones can become a part of their long term future.

We will be comparing John Stones with John Terry, the defender’s boots he will have to fill in if he moves.

First we are comparing the duo in terms of defence score, pass completion, tackles won and aerial duels won in every 90 minutes and we can see the young center back leading in every category.

Now we will be comparing on the basis of average pass length, interceptions, blocks and clearances per 90 minutes and the young English international is a clear winner in every category again.

However, John Terry is a clear winner on categories like defensive errors, errors leading to goal, areial duels won but the young center back is again the player who has conmmitted less fouls.

Stones is just 21 years old and he is going to improve a lot with age and experience and guidance of Jose Mourinho, the young defender has potential to fill in the boots of John Terry and he is definitely worth that money.
