War of words have heated up ahead of the mega round of 16 second leg clash between Chelsea and PSG. One man who could decide the leg on its own is PSG’s Swedish International Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Keeping that in mind Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtious has aimed a direct shot at Ibra saying that he is not afraid of the PSG striker. Courtious knows that Chelsea carry a slender advantage going in to the game as they carry an away goal cushion after the 1-1 draw at Parc des Princes.
Courtious vowed to play well against Ibra as he did 2 weeks ago, denying the Swed late on in the game. The Belgian stopper is in good form and is well aware of what it takes to go all the way in the Champions League as he did last season with Atetico Madrid.
Courtious singled out the benefit of playing this match at home and showed full confidence in his side’s defensive ability to keep our Ibrahimovic and PSG on the night and progress in to the next round.
Courtious was speaking to RMC ahead of the game and was asked about Ibra and Chelsea’s chances of going through.
Courtious on Ibrahimovic:
‘No, I’m not afraid. ‘I played against him three weeks ago, and I played well. I hope to stop him again on Wednesday.
‘I know he’s a great striker, and that it’s always difficult to stop him, but we have to do that if we want to go through.’
Courtious on Chelsea progressing to the next round:
‘We’re confident, but we expect a very difficult game. Paris are going to come here to score goals. It’ll be a very complicated game.
‘We’re ready, and we hope to win in front of our fans. We’ll have to see the tactics the coach puts in place. What is certain is that we cannot sit back and wait.
‘We have to defend well, but we mustn’t go for the 0-0 because if we concede a goal, Paris will qualify by winning 1-0. We have to play to our strengths by trying to score goals and win the game.’
