Transfer Window is at full-swing with deals getting completed left, right and center. Xherdan Shaqiri became the latest big name to swap clubs in the unpredictable January Transfer Window. There have been recent rumors linking Lionel Messi to leave Barcelona and sign with Chelsea.

In wake of this audacious claim, we analyze the World’s most valued players if they were to move in the January Transfer window. Basis of this study includes Player’s recent performances, player’s age, number of years left on player’s contract and recent performance of his team.

As per the Guide Price, if Chelsea were to make a swap for Lionel Messi, they will have to splash a staggering £172 Million to secure Messi’s signature. Undoubtedly Messi tops our Guide Price for January Transfer Window. Messi leads Cristiano Ronaldo by a very comfortbale margin. The Real Madrid superstar is ranked 2nd on the list with a value of £104 Million.

Top-10 of the list features 3 Chelsea superstars – Eden Harard (3rd), Diego Costa (4th) and Cesc Fabregas (8th). World’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale, features at Number 10, while there are 6 players from the Premier League. Top-10 list also features Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez (9th) and Juventus’ Paul Pogba (5th)

Interestingly though, Raheem Sterling is the only player on the Top 10 list, who will not play any further part in this season’s Champions League after Liverpool’s elimination from the competition. Sterling comes in at 7th position.

Here is a list of the World’s Top-90 most valuable players in the world.

Real Madrid have the most players in the list of World’s most valuable 90 players with 12 representations. This price guide gives us a slight idea of the amount of money it would take for any team to prize these valuable assets from their current clubs.

One of the most crucial guidelines for determining the Transfer Value is the contract. Perhaps this is the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo is that far from Lionel Messi. In terms of performance, Cristiano Ronaldo is the odds on favorite to win this year’s Ballon d’or but still his value is way behind Lionel Messi.

Looking at this list, we can understand as to why clubs stress on players signing a long-term deal with their star players. David De Gea and Raheem Sterling’s value might shoot higher if they sign their proposed contract extension at Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
