Recent reports have suggested that Arsene Wenger is not happy with the current set of players at the club this season.
A number of players are set to leave the club including the likes of Rosicky, Flamini, Arteta, Walcott, Gibbs and Oxlade-Chamberlain and this leaves the club in a summer of transition at the end of the season.
With a number of names leaving the club, much top class European talent have been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.
And the most recent player linked with the club is Greek national Kostas Mitroglou.
The Fulham striker is currently playing for the Portuguese outfit Benfica on loan and his form this season might see the club move for the player on a permanent basis with a €7million deal already in place.
The 28-year old has scored 22 goals in 39 games in all competitions for the Portuguese outfit and is now a transfer target for many clubs all across Europe.
And recent reports from the English news outlet Metro stated that Arsenal’s manager has enquired about the availability of the striker for a potential move this summer.
Although the same source revealed that a permanent deal at Benfica is not out of the picture, the current form of the player might see many clubs price him away from the Portuguese outfit.
A report from the Sport Witness revealed that Benfica are still front-runners for the 28-year old and quoted that “Mitroglou has already reached a verbal agreement to sign a four-year deal at Benfica. The club will pay Fulham €7m for the transfer and only a very good offer would make the player change his mind.”
Arsene Wenger will, however, have to assess the striker who is not only good in the air but also has a good eye for goal.
His time in the Premier League was not his best but the confidence he has at the moment can help Arsenal in their bid to a trophy next season.
The current strikers at the club, Giroud and Welbeck have both not been able to set high standards and though Mitroglou might not be a huge improvement on the duo, he will certainly increase the depth in the squad and provide a different option for Wenger throughout the season.
This news will not excite the Gunner fans too much but the Greek international might just be the right man in his current form to make the difference at the Emirates.
Do you think Kostas Mitroglou can improve Arsenal next season?
