Goal.com claims that Valencia CF defender Nicolas Otamendi has reached Manchester to complete his move to the Etihad Stadium. After a lot of speculation and furore in the media, the Argentine defender is finally on his way to join Premier League Manchester City for a reported fee of £25 million.

Otamendi was linked heavily with City’s fierce rivals Manchester United earlier in the summer, but the club has successfully hijacked the transfer move and are now on the verge of signing the player. Valencia had initially rated their star defender for 50 million Euros, but after the player became adamant of leaving the club, they were forced to reduce the valuation.

Only change which will happen in the deal is French central defender Eliaquim Mangala will not move to Valencia in exchange. Mangala started in both the games of the new season so far and produced stellar performances at the backline.

In exchange City’s young striker Marcos Lopes might head on to La Liga.

Nicolas Otamendi had a wonderful season with Valencia last seasn who had finished fourth in the league. The club’s defensive record was pretty impressive as it was better than that of giants Real Madrid. Statistically the Argentine was one of the best in his position in Europe. Otamendi’s inclusion will be a huge boost for the title aspirig Manchester City.

Nicolas Otamendi is set to be Manchester City’s fifth signing of the season. City were on a spending spree this summer in order to reshape and bolster their squad. They had spend £49 m earlier in the summer to get hold of Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.

The Premier League giants are also in pursuit of Wolfsburg midfielder and former Chelsea player Kevin De Bruyne. Though, the deal looks unlikely as the club and the player’s agent had confirmed last weel that the Belgian star would stay in the club.
