Indian men’s Hockey team began their tour of New Zealand with a convincing 3-1 win over New Zealand A team in a practice match on Friday 2 October in Auckland.

It was New Zealand who started attacking and earned two back to back penalty corners in the first 2 minutes.  Thanks to our Goalkeeper Sreejesh’s exemplary effort of saving both of them saved the ordeal. But soon Indian forwards started to counter attack in the third minute. Ramandeep dribbled past a couple of NZ players and fed to Akashdeep who hit the first goal for India to get 1-0 lead. In the 20th minute Ramandeep himself made spectacular field goal to get India 2-0 lead. In the 27th minute Nikkin Thimmayya did spadework past the NZ defenders after getting a pass from Gurjinder Singh and struck a goal to get third goal.

Indian men Play the second match today with New Zealand A again in Auckland followed by four tests on 6th, 7th,  9th and 11th October. The first 2 tests will be played in Nelson and the last two in Christchurch, New Zealand.
