Ranchi Rays defeated Uttar Pradesh Wizards by 2-0 in Hero India League match at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium at Luck now today. It was a good performance by Ranchi Rays as they played some excellent hockey in the defense and also in attack. The positive point from UP wizards was the performance of Sreejesh who made some great saves.

In the first quarter, Ranchi made a positive start to the game. Sreejesh made some excellent saves in the first quarter itself. Ranchi Rays took the lead in the 13th minute when Militon scored an open goal to make it 1-0. At the end of the first quarter it was 1-0 in favor of Ranchi Rays.

In the second quarter Bob De Vod intercepted a wrong pass and went one on one but it went wide of the goal in the 2 minute. Ranchi Rays made a good move in the 4th minute when Wilson went one on one but Sreejesh made an excellent save. UP wizards was a given penalty corner but Ranchi Rays went for a review and the umpire said it was not dangerous.  At the end of the 2nd quarter, it was 1-0 in favor of Ranchi Rays.

In the third quarter UP Wizards started off in a positive manner when Uthappa made a pass but was not intercepted in the “D”. In the 8th minute UP wizards made a good move but Ranchi Rays keeper was up to the task. In the 12th minute, Manpreet Singh missed a chance. After Mandeep Singh converted a goal from a reverse shot to make it 2-0 in favor of Ranchi Rays. In the 13th minute, Ranchi Rays was awarded a penalty corner but that goal was well saved again by Sreejesh.

In the fourth quarter, UP Wizards team tried many shots on Ranchi Rays goal but their defense was solid. The UP Wizards team was frustrated. At the end of the fourth quarter the match went in favor of Ranchi Rays by 2-0.

By winning this match Ranchi Rays jumped to second place in the points table.
