2014 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal winner Jitu Rai completed a double as he shot Gold in the men’s 50 M air Pistol event in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. This is India’s first Gold Medal in the Asian Games.

He made a great comeback from sixth position after eight shots to strike Gold at the end of the 20 shots. Jitu began steadily, lost his way in the middle and later came back brilliant as he started hitting the bulls eye when his opponents started shooting way out of target. Singapore’s Swee Hom Lim shot 4.4 that saw his elimination from a very strong position.

Jitu scored 186.2 in the finals as his Vietnamese opponent Hoang Phuong Nguyen scored a mere 5.8 in his last shot for which Jitu replied with 8.4. Mguyen settled for silver with a score of 183.4 as China’s Wang Zhiwei won the Bronze with 165.6.

Jitu Rai qualified for the finals with a score of 559 (92, 97, 92, 93, 92, 93) whereas other India shooter in fray Om Prakash finished 10th with 555 (91, 92, 93, 92, 95, 92).
